Hi! I'm Barbara Worthington. Firstly, I want to say, if you are a caregiver, I've been in your shoes. I've experienced the immense joys as well as the difficult trials of caring for a loved one.
For over 15 years, I have been immersed in an Alzheimer's and dementia world beginning with caring for my grandfather, then my grandmother, and, lastly, my father. The impact that Alzheimer's and dementia has left on my family has inspired me to educate myself, and, God willing, share my knowledge with those affected by these diseases.
I have earned an Associates degree in Nursing and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education, as well as Certification from John Hopkins School of Nursing for Care of Elders with Alzheimer’s Disease and other Major Neurocognitive Disorders, and Certification as a Dementia Care Specialist.
I have worked and continue to volunteer for many health care, Alzheimer's & memory care and assisted living organizations.
My goal in caring is to keep it as simple as possible, to not get overwhelmed by the complexity of care so that the highest possible quality of life can be attained by both carer and the individual(s) receiving care.
This philosophy, along with personal experiences and education allowed for the creation of an innovative product, called Caregiver Cards (click to learn more on how Caregiver Cards can overcome communication barriers). This product is the 1st of many innovations and techniques I will strive to bring to the Alzheimer's and dementia community to offer improved help and support.
